Notes About the Writing Contests (Stage P~F)

Level P

Positive aspects:
-         Very good artwork
-         Creative writing
-         More variety than before
 
To choose the top students we have taken the following into account:
Creativity - We tried to pick stories that were more likely to be written by
the student rather than copied from a book or done with someone’s help.      
Topic - A meaningful topic can definitely make the story more interesting for the reader, especially if it has moral.
Artwork – The drawing should be neat, colorful and match with the story.
Writing skills - Taken into account according to the level.

為了要選出最優秀的作品,下列所述為評選考量的重點
 
創意:我們試著挑出由自己單獨完成而非參考其他書籍或由他人協助完成的作
品。
主題:對讀者而言,一個有意義的主題會讓故事更具可讀性,如果故事能蘊含寓
      意更佳。
插圖:所呈現的畫作應該維持畫面整潔,用色豐富並且切合故事主題。
 
寫作技巧:符合該級數程度。
 
 
Stages C and D
-         In general, the artwork was considerably well done and the writing very satisfactory. There’s no doubt the students put a lot of efforts into it.
-         The topics were more varied than in previous years.
 
Stages C and D 四格圖畫寫作
大體上來說,所有的插圖都很用心,故事也令人滿意。無疑地,學生們都傾盡全力參與比賽。在主題的選擇上也較往年更多變化。
 
 
 
Stages E and F
-         In general, the artwork was excellent. The topics could be more varied though. Some of the stories are already known. Considering that the artwork was so good, the students could have written something of their own, it could be anything related to the drawings. This would make the story more original and stand out among copies.

整體來說,插圖非常優秀,主題的選擇也較多樣。這其中有些小書以知名的故事為藍本呈現。雖然這些故事的插圖令人印象深刻,但我們更期待結合圖像的原創性故事。也相信這些原創的小書更能在競爭激烈的書群中脫穎而出。
 
 
 
Comments
There are a few things to consider in order to help the students improve their work next time:
 
-         Remind the students to write at least the minimum expected amount of words and pages, according to each stage.
-         The drawing should be neat and the writing as legible as possible.  
-         The students could explore more their creativity and write more original stories rather than just copy a story from a book as it happened in many cases. Even if the students use a much simpler vocabulary, but write something on their own, it is a lot more valuable than a copy. The same should be considered for the drawings.   
-         Try to avoid having more than one student in class writing about the same topic. If necessary, brainstorm the students or give them a list of topics to choose from. Make sure that each student picks a different topic and somehow reward or praise the students who are more creative and come up with a different topic on their own.   
All in all, most students have made great efforts to come up with such good stories and artwork. Thanks to all the teachers and parents’ support, there’s been a considerable improvement if compared with the work the students have done in previous years. Keep up the good work!     
 
 
總評
期待學生有更優秀的作品參賽,以下幾點可列為參考
 
l  所有參賽的作品都應該達到該級數所要求的字數與頁數。
l  圖畫力求整潔,字跡可被辨識。
l  鼓勵學生自行創作而非抄襲知名故事,即使故事用字簡單,但內容出於學生親手之筆,此作品被認同的程度將遠遠高於抄襲之作;畫作的部分我們也用相同的標準來檢視。
l  盡量避免讓多位學生選擇相同主題,不妨透由學生腦力激盪列出可以選擇的主題,再請學生揀選不同的題材來描寫,如果有任何學生寫出自行發想的故事,請記得大大的讚揚他。
 
整體來說,在大部分的作品裡都能看到學生們努力的痕跡,由於老師與家長的支持,比較起往年,學生已經有長足的進步。希望大家繼續努力!
